David R. Thompson, age 80, of Bushnell, FL died on August 24, 2026 at HCA Citrus Hospital in Inverness under the care of Vitas Hospice. Born in Oswego, NY, he was one of 6 sons and 2 daughters of the late Lynn and Muriel (Maltby) Thompson.
After completing his high school education with a GED, David went off to Bible College. He became a minister and pastored in Nebraska. David came to Sumter County in 1991 relocating from Watertown, NY. A 32nd Degree F. & A.M., he was a member of the historical Masonic Lodge #133 in Floral City and the York Rite. He became a member of the Leesburg Moose Lodge #1271 and Sons of the Legion.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly, his brother Jimmy, his brother Paul and daughter Yvette Thompson. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 47 years, Beverly; sons, David (Jennifer) Thompson, Jr. of Yakima, WA and Andy (Sherry) Rogers of Lake Panasoffkee, FL; daughters, Yvonne Paquin of Mechanicsville, TN and; brothers and sisters, Ronald of Fremont, NE, Daniel of Kansas City, MO, Mark of Shallotte, SC, Mary Fiashetti of Upstate New York, and several grandchildren & 2 Great grandchildren
