Shirley P. Meyer, formerly of Inverness, FL passed away peacefully under Hospice care at Cypress Care Center in Wildwood on Friday, August 21, 2026. She was 91 years of age.
Shirley was born in Norwich, New York to Louis M. and Emilie (Mahoney) Pike. She was raised Methodist. When she was 18, she married Harold W. Meyer, and they moved from New York to Florida many years ago. Shirley worked in various business settings as a bookkeeper and office manager through the years. Though they never had children of their own, she relished in the role as an aunt!
Shirley was not only preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Harry and Carle Pike, but also her husband of 65 years, Harold, who died in 2024. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving nieces, Marlyn Morey, Claudia Burghard, Audrey Burman, and Joanne Cooley; numerous nieces and nephews from Harold’s side of the family; and a plethora of great nieces and great nephew.
A gathering will be held for Shirley on Monday, August 31st, 2026 from 11:00A.M. until 12:00 Noon at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL. Family and friends will follow in procession to the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL where a brief committal will follow at 1:00P.M.

Aunt Shirley was a very gifted person. She had an infectious laugh and was generally a happy person. I loved spending time with my aunt over the years. When in college, we corresponded regularly, and after marriage we continued to correspond until she could no longer write. Aunt Shirley liked to give me some of her clothes and jewelry from time to time. She was a loving person, and I shall greatly miss her.
