Jean Marie Rising, 82, a devoted wife, loving mother and friend, passed away on August 15, 2026, holding hands with her husband, Larry, of 62 years. Born on June 16, 1944, Glenwood, Minnesota, Jean’s greatest joys were time with family, adventures with Larry, and time in prayer which was her compass throughout her life.
A mother of 4 daughters, grandma of 10 and great grandma of 3, Jean was the heart of the family. Jean had a knack for remembering every birthday, anniversary, and any other important date for her family and friends, never failing to send a card, write a letter, or make a call. Her legendary pot-roast and mashed potatoes, caramel rolls and angel food cake with strawberries was loved by all. She delighted in finding new recipes, reading cookbooks, quilting, crafting, playing cards, and earning blue ribbons in the county fair. She was relentless in her prayers for her family, friends, and others in need of comfort.
Jean is survived by her husband Larry, their daughters Lorie Becker, Jenny Hetland, Louann Robinson, Janel Hunter, and Valeria Barbosa, 2 sons-in-law Steve Hetland and Christopher Robinson and their families. She is preceded by her 3 sisters, mom, and dad. A celebration of Jean’s life and faith will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM. The Rev. Lloyd Bertine will officiate. The family will be sharing family stories, one of Jean’s recipes, and ensuring that her legacy of faith, laughter, love and togetherness continues for generations to come. Jean’s urn will be interred at Florida National Cemetery at a later date. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family.

So sorry for your loss. I loved Jean dearly. I have learned so much from her. We loved her laughter too.
When Scott and I moved into the neighborhood Jean came to our home with a friendship cake to welcome us to the neighborhood. I miss the talks we would have at times when she was walking Carver she would make me laugh. She always talked to our family with such kind words. Jean was always there to plan and help with all of our community get togethers. Jean was always so kind hearted she will be missed greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with Larry and his family. Rest In Peace Jean, until we meet again.
