William Larry Bishop, Sr., age 81 of Monroe, NC passed away July 25, 2026 in the Hospice House of Union County with his family at bedside. Mr. Bishop was born in New Philadelphia, OH on October 30, 1944 to the late Fred Rice Bishop and Ethel Taylor Jones. He was an LP gas service technician and business owner.
Left to cherish his memory are three children: William Larry Bishop, Jr and his wife Gloria, of Inverness, Mark Bishop (Sherri Uteck), of Mount Holly, NC; Jonny Bishop of Inverness, whose beloved wife, Heather, preceded him in death. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty “Sue” Bowling of Hernando and Helen “Sis” Reynolds of Biloxi, MS; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Norma Money Bishop, in 2025; two brothers, Harry “Bud” Bishop and Fred “Jr.” Bishop; and two sisters, Linda “Bunky” Gravely and Dorothy “Dot” Smith.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 10:00AM at Oak Ridge Cemetery of Inverness. Pastor Darrell Reneau of Cornerstone Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness is assisting the family.
