Christopher Robin Phillipps

Christopher Robin Phillipps, 86, a deeply loved father, grandfather, great grandfather and devoted navy veteran, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, service, and profound dedication to his family. Born in the rugged beauty of Newfoundland, Canada on May 21, 1940, Chris carried a spirit of adventure that eventually led him to a life well-lived in the warmth of Key West, Florida.

As a young man, Chris answered the call of duty and joined the navy, where he was stationed in Key West on the USS SeaCat (1958-62) while serving, he was qualified in every department and station on the submarine earning his “dolphins”, a testament to his skill, bravery, and dedication as a submariner. After his military service, he stayed in Key West, where he became an integral part of the local community. For over 40 years, he worked reliably for the telephone company,  even through the transitions of AT&T, Southern Bell, Bell South, and was still around when AT&T merged back with the “baby bells”.  He excelled keeping the keys connected even through major hurricanes as the 2nd level Manager responsible for all operations from Key West to the mainland.  He also proudly served as union president for the phone company.  In retirement he was called to help Louisiana get its infrastructure put back in place after Hurricane Katrina and went without hesitation as a contractor for AT&T, and then surveying the keys for improvements of existing company utilities.  To keep busy, Chris brought his signature kindness and customer service to Little Palm Island, where he was an exceptionally loved employee, known by colleagues and remembered by guests for his gentle nature, bright presence and thorough knowledge of keys history.   His involvement in the community was also extensive including being elected to president of the KW offshore powerboat club, and president of the KWHS football booster. Chris could be seen in the concession stand at every home game for the Varsity Baseball team while they chased their 10th state championship.

Above all of his achievements, Chris was the ultimate family man and the absolute best father. He poured his heart into raising his four children. With Cindy, he raised his two cherished daughters, Kim and Jodi. Later in life, alongside his beloved wife Judy, who preceded him in death, raised his two proud sons, Troy and Drew. His lessons, love, and laughter will live on through them forever. Family was Christopher's greatest treasure. He was the immensely proud grandfather of Daniel, Jordan, Dylan, Zackery, Steven, Mia, Blake, Lindsey, Joshua, Bryce, and Petra. His legacy continued to grow as the blessed great-grandfather of Adeline, Tate, Wyatt, Olivia, Denver, Jalia, Daylen, Avaya, and Meleah, all of whom brought immense joy to his later years.

Chris was truly loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was incredibly funny, possessed a wonderful sense of humor, and absolutely loved to tell jokes, bringing smiles and laughter to every room he entered. His easygoing nature, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family made him a pillar of strength and a source of unconditional love. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by his family, friends, and the community he served so faithfully.

A memorial service will be held at a future date to celebrate Christopher's life. Official plans have not yet been finalized, and the family will share details once they are arranged.
