Robert Jackson Norris
1948 – 2026
Robert Jackson Norris, 77, passed away peacefully at UF Health in Leesburg on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. A lifelong resident of Central Florida, Robert was born in Clermont to the late Andrew Jackson and Marie (Nelson) Norris.
A man of quiet strength and steadfast devotion, Robert’s life was defined by his unwavering commitment to those he loved. At just 17 years old, he met the love of his life, Christine Schoenborn. They married five years later, beginning a devoted partnership that would span 55 years.
In 1969, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his country. Following the tragic and untimely passing of his parents, he received a humanitarian discharge to return home and raise his younger brother and sister. His act of selflessness set the tone for a lifetime spent providing for and guiding his family. Whether as a patriot, a master builder, or a baseball coach, Robert remained a life-long steady pillar for the Norris family.
Robert began his professional career at Sumter Electric before establishing his own residential contracting business. As a Master Builder and respected businessman, he spent the next 40 years crafting custom homes across Central Florida, leaving a lasting legacy through his renowned workmanship of well-built homes.
An avid outdoorsman and a “good ol’ boy” in the truest sense, Robert found joy in Gator football, fishing, hunting, and the roar of NASCAR. He was a master of the grill, famous for turning any gathering into a feast — from savory ribs to cakes and greens. Every meal more delicious than the last.
Perhaps his most colorful legacy was his passion for Christmas. Robert worked on his holiday light displays year-round, often handcrafting and rewiring them himself. It was not uncommon for his family to find a full-sized Christmas deer standing in the living room in the heat of July as he meticulously prepared for his favorite season.
Robert was the kind of father who led by example — firm in principle, tireless in provision, and fierce in his love for his family. He worked hard, stood strong and made certain his family never went without. Above all else, he cherished time spent together, especially with his beloved grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy.
He is survived by his children: daughter Heather Christenson (Kevin) of Jacksonville; sons Levi Norris (Terra) of Lake Panasoffkee and Garrett Norris (Stacy) of Center Hill; his brothers, Andy Norris and Steve Norris; his sister, Sherrie Benson; and seven cherished grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.

We became neighbors (four doors apart) in 1972.
