Luz Esther Ortiz, age 88 of Inverness, FL passed away peacefully and quietly at home on January 11, 2026. She was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on March 6, 1937 to the late Eusebio and Adela Sanchez and came to this area in 1972 from Paterson, NJ. She was a master seamstress specializing in draperies and window treatments. She was a sweet and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed gardening, cooking, and listening to Latin Music and dancing. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church attending church services on a regular basis.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Audaz “Eddie” Ortiz; 2 Sons, Erving “Yank” Ortiz and his wife Wendy, and Dennis Ortiz, both of Inverness; 2 brothers, Carlos Santana of Port St. Lucie, and Edwin Santana from Havelock, NC; 4 grandchildren, Anthony and his wife Meghan, Evan, Ethan, and Emily; and 1 great grandchild Nathan. She was preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth “Lizzie” Alexander.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 19th at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Suszynski, celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Monday morning from 10:00-12:30 at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home before leaving for the church.
