Joseph Francis Bendig, age 90 of Lecanto, FL passed away on January 4, 2026 under the loving care of his family and Vitas Hospice.
Joe was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 18, 1935 to the late Francis and Helen (Boyle) Bendig and came to this area in 1990 from New Jersey. He was a barber by profession, owning and operating his own barber shop. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed playing golf, being a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, and participating in the local chapter of USA Dance.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 67 years, Violet Bendig; 2 sons: James Bendig and wife Karen of Cherry Hill, NJ and Joseph Bendig and wife Donna of Pine Hill, NJ. There are also 4 grandchildren: Tara, Joseph, John, and Kaitlyn. His sister, Eleanor Rickenbach and his brothers, Francis and George preceded him in death.
Graveside services with Military Honors are scheduled at Florida National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 11:30. Friends and family may come to the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday morning to participate in the procession to Florida National Cemetery. That procession will depart promptly at 10:30 AM
