Lance Edward Smith, age 87 of Inverness passed away December 19, 2025 at his home under the loving care of his family and Vitas Hospice.
Lance was born in Brooksville on August 9, 1938 to the late Hugh O. Smith and Inez Dixon Smith. He was a lifetime resident of Citrus County and served our nation in the U.S. Army. He retired as a fuel distribution agent for the Chevron Corporation, owning and operating his own company. Lance attended the First Presbyterian Church in Inverness.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Johnson Smith; 4 sons: Stan Smith and his wife Renee of DeLand, FL; Joseph Couturier and wife Minon of Hernando, FL; John Couturier and wife Shelly of Aiken, SC; Jay Couturier and wife Dominic of Massachusetts; 1 daughter, Alice Edwards of Chipley, FL; 1 brother, Max Smith of Inverness; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Friends may call at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM to visit and fellowship with family and friends. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM from the First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Lou Ellen Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
