Bonita “Bonnie” McAvoy of Citrus Springs, FL December 18th, 2025 died at her residence under the care of her loving family and VITAS Hospice. She was 85 years old. Born in Johnson County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Sol and Margaret (Hunnycutt) Burchett.
Bonnie had been in the area for almost 10 years. Formerly from Berea Kentucky, she lived in Jackson Michigan before settling in Floral City, FL. She was a committed caregiver in her professional life; as a dedicated LPN for over 46 years, she worked at Foote hospital in Jackson, 7 Rivers ICU in Crystal River and nursing homes in the Inverness and Berea areas.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law; Don (Bridget) Hyden and Tim (Maureen) Hyden; Five grandchildren and Two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jon “Mike” McAvoy who died in 2023; and several brothers and sisters.
