Gelorias LaVera Sasser, of Inverness, passed away at her home under Hospice care on Sunday, December 7, 2025. She was 89 years of age. LaVera was born in Wrigley, Kentucky to Ray and Lenola (Elam) Witt. She married Paul Max Sasser in 1955, and later moved to St. Petersburg, FL. She worked for GMAC for many years and in 1988 she and Paul moved to Inverness. LaVera and Paul were very active in the Floral City Church of Christ for many years.
Paul preceded LaVera in death in May 2024, after 69 1/2 years married. Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law Mike and Elaine Sasser of Covington, GA; her daughters and sons-in-law Paula Lancaster and Mike Smith of Maryland, NY and Dianne and Mikell Cates of Savannah, GA; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Sasser Church of Christ Cemetery in Brantley, AL on Sunday December 14 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made in her memory to the Floral City Church of Christ.. Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness and Foreman Brown –Service Funeral Home, Andalusia, AL.
