William Gordon Ashby, age 66, died unexpectedly at his home in Inverness on November 23, 2025. Born in Auburn, AL, he was the son of William Roy Ashby and the late Beverly Morseman.
Known as “Bill” or “Brother” to those closest to him, he retired from A.T. & T. after 30 years as a computer analyst. He relocated to Citrus County from Deltona 2 years ago.
Bill was a computer “wizard” and loved anything to do with them. He could build computers from the ground up. His talent and skill allowed him to make computers communicate with each other.
Left to cherish his memory is his father and stepmother, Bill and Carolyn Ashby of Inverness; sister, Melissa Smothers (Tony) in Michigan; stepsister, Stacia Muddiman (Scott) in Tennessee; 5 nieces and nephews.
Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with private arrangements.

Bill was my oldest and dearest friend, the first friend I ever had. We were inseparable until he moved away in the third grade, but we were able to catch up with each other in our 20’s. We have stayed in touch over the years and am thankful to know that he is a brother in Christ, and we will once again see each other. My prayers are with you all during your time of grief. Brother, you ran the race well and have attainted the prize. I will see you on the other side.
