Michael Foley

Michael Foley, 85, of Inverness, died on November 9th, 2025 at Avante of Inverness. Born in County Limerick, Ireland, he was the son of the late Jack and Mary O’Sullivan Foley. He moved to New York City in 1963.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Michael served honorably during the Vietnam War. On September 15, 1984, Michael married the love of his life. Maureen noted that “the cowboy hat” was what caught her attention.

He arrived in the area from Manhattan, NY about 15 years ago retiring from his career as a building manager in New York City.

Michael served as President of the Limerick Association of New York. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #77 in Inverness and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness.

Michael was known to enjoy a cold beer (or two) with fellow veterans at the American Legion.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 41 years, Maureen; brothers, Maurice (Theresa) and John; brother-in-law, Edward; nieces and nephews, Sean, Kathleen, Ann Marie, Tara Jean, Deirdre, Dianna, Sandra, Juanita, Yolanda, John, Michelle, John and Edward.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Brigid and Brendan, and his sister, Kathleen.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, November 18th, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. The family will receive visitors at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, 3075 S. Florida Avenue, Inverness from 8:30 – 9:30 AM before processing to the church. Burial with military honors will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at 12:30 PM.
