Pedro E. “Pete” Laborda

Pedro E. Laborda, affectionately known as “Pete,” of Inverness, passed away peacefully under Hospice care in HCA Florida Citrus Hospital on Saturday, October 25, 2025. He was eighty-nine years of age. Pete was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico to Pedro and Emilia (Fontanez) Laborda, and grew up in Miami. His family moved to Miami when he was still very young, and while at a beach party with other teenagers, he met his love, Patricia Cunningham. They married on Christmas Eve of 1955. Pete and Pat moved their way up to New Port Richey, and in 1984 they left there to make Inverness their home. Pete owned and operated his own lighting fixture supply store, called The Lighting Gallery, for years until retiring and passing it on to one of their sons. He enjoyed traveling, watching football and boxing, and he loved his family dearly. Pete was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was also of the Baptist faith. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Francisco Laborda. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nearly 70 years Pat Laborda; his sons Mike Laborda (Dayline) of Inverness and Jeff Laborda (Linh Truong) of Bradenton; a brother Antonio Laborda of Miami; grandchildren Ashley Hamilton (Chris) and Michael Laborda (Jessica); and great grandchildren Emilia and Eleanor Laborda. Arrangements are in the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
