Nancy Jane Royalty, 95, passed away on October 2, 2025 at her home in Hernando, FL (formerly of Lexington Park, MD) with her daughter, Ellen, by her side. She was born on September 21, 1930 in Glendale, WVA, and grew up in Biloxi, MS. She graduated from Gulfport High School and attended Mississippi Women’s College, studying Home Economics.
Nancy, a devoted member of Patuxent Presbyterian church for 45 years, sang in the choir, and once successfully led the pastoral search committee for the next pastor. In addition to homemaking, she was deeply committed to community service which included actively raising money for Great Mills High School sports and St. Mary’s County Hospice. She substitute taught at Esperanza Middle School, swam in the local senior Olympics, and visited nursing home patients with her therapy dog, Duchess. She was driven to making a positive impact on the lives of many.
Nancy was married 51 years to her beloved husband, the late Bryce E. Royalty, USN. She is survived by her four children: Dr. John Royalty, Larry Royalty (Shirley), James Royalty (Cindy), and Ellen Lyon (Paul), 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Nancy was also preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Alice Courtney Sander; her brother, James Sander; her sister, Betty Thompson; daughters-in-law, Angie Royalty and Bekke Royalty, and granddaughter Ashleigh Range.
A memorial service honoring Nancy’s life will be Saturday, November 8th,11 a.m. at the Patuxent Presbyterian Church, 23421 Kingston Creek Rd, California, MD with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary’s at 44724 Hospice Ln, Callaway, MD. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory in Inverness assisted the family.
