William Nelson Minshall
December 18, 1947 – July 3, 2025
William Nelson Minshall—known to most as Bill—was born in Circleville, Ohio, on
December 18, 1947. Over 75 years, he built a life defined by hard work, quiet loyalty,
and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
Bill graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1966 and went on to earn a bachelor’s
degree in business from the University of Cincinnati. He married Cheryl Lee Ratliff on
March 21, 1971, in Cincinnati, OH, starting a 54-year marriage marked by dedication
and partnership. Throughout his career, Bill wasn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and do
the work. He began as a regional manager for Kroger in the 1970s, later co-owned M&M
Spraying in Salisbury, Missouri, and eventually founded Minshall Trucking, hauling
rock across the state. He was a man who followed through—if he said he’d do
something, he did it.
Outside of work, Bill found joy in simple but meaningful things, especially time spent
with family, friends, and fishing with his buddies. He also loved experimenting in the
kitchen, trying new recipes and sharing his creations with family, friends, and
neighbors. If he cooked something good, chances are you’d get a call or a plate.
Bill had a gift for fixing just about anything, and everyone knew it. If something broke, if
a project needed muscle or know-how, or if someone just didn’t know where to start,
Bill was the first call. He gave his time, his advice, and his steady presence without
ever asking for anything in return.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cheryl Minshall of Inverness, Florida; his
daughter, Tina Minshall of Jacksonville, Florida; and his son, Douglas (Heather)
Minshall of Indio, California. He also leaves behind four beloved grandsons: Braylon,
Liam, Maxwell, and Brett. His brothers, Danny Minshall (Debbie) of Bynumville,
Missouri, and Terry Minshall (Betty) of Salisbury, Missouri, survive him as well, along
with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
One of the deepest and most enduring relationships in Bill’s life was with his uncle,
George Minshall of Kingston, Ohio. More than just family, they were lifelong best
friends – two people who were never more at ease, more themselves, or more content
than when they were together. Their bond was rare and enduring, a defining part of
both of their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Inez (Kempton) Minshall, and
his niece, Jennifer Minshall.
Bill never sought attention or praise. He believed in showing up, doing the right thing,
and taking care of the people around him. He lived his values more than he ever spoke
of them—and for that, he will be remembered and deeply missed.
Memorial Services
In accordance with Bill’s wishes, a service to celebrate his life will be held at his home
in Inverness, Florida, for family and friends in the area. The date and time will be
announced when finalized.
Additionally, a celebration of Bill’s life will take place during the Third Annual Kingston
Community Tractor Show at Minshall Farm in Kingston, Ohio, on September 6th—a
family event he loved attending. A private service for family and close friends will
follow the show.
