Donald E. Saylor, Jr.

Donald E. Saylor, Jr., age 96, of Inverness, FL, passed away on May 19, 2025.  Don was born on June 9, 1928, in West Conshohocken, PA to the late Donald E. Saylor, Sr. and Edna K. (Kriebel) Saylor.  After graduating from Norristown High School class of 1947, Don served as a member of the United States Army of Occupation Forces in Germany.

Don first worked in sales for Dettra Flag Co. in Oaks, PA and later banking became his profession as a VP at Commonwealth Federal Savings and Loan and Cambria Savings Bank in PA. After relocating to Seminole, FL, He served as VP of Franklin Savings and Loan and ending his career as a SR VP of Anchor Savings Bank in St, Petersburg. He retired to Inverness, FL in 1997.

Don’s many Masonic affiliations included being a Member of Charity Lodge #190 F and A M and in 2024 received his 70th year Masonic Service Award from the Grand Lodge of PA., Commandry #95 Knights Templar and Member of the Valley of Allentown 32nd Degree AASR.  He was a Past Grand Tall Cedar of Norristown Forest #31, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and was elected Supreme Tall Cedar of the United States in 1970.

Don was a life member of the American Legion Post #273 in Madeira Beach, FL and was actively involved in VFW Post #4337 in Inverness where he served for many years as the Commander of the Honor Guard and Post Commander in 2011-2012 and 2023-2024. He took great pride in the service to veterans through the Post and the Honor Guard.  He cherished his band of brothers, the fine group of men and women he served beside.  Don believed that the post was his second family.

Left to cherish his memory is Daughter, Donna S. Rubert and Husband, Chris, 5 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and devoted companion, Nell Johnson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Ann N. Saylor, and his son David W. Saylor.

His remains will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. on July 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The procession to the cemetery will depart the funeral home at 10:15 sharp. Arrangements being made by Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home.
