William Henry Lockwood

William Henry Lockwood, better known as Bill, passed away under HPH Hospice in Lecanto on Sunday, May 11, 2025. He was 83. Bill was born in Hartford, CT to Burton and Helen Youchavitz Lockwood, as an only child. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1962, and was honorably discharged in 1964. Although he attended the University of Hartford, he worked full time at night, and took college classes during the day to eventually earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Central Connecticut State University. He accepted a position with the University of Connecticut as the college Bursar. Bill stayed quite active with racing thoroughbred horses, and when his kids were little he loved coaching Little League baseball. In his younger years, he even played position of catcher. Bill was an avid sports fan! He met and married Joan Coolbeth in March 1989, and they moved to Citrus County in 2000 from Connecticut. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 36 years Joan Lockwood of Beverly Hills; his children James Lockwood (Holly) of Bridgewater, MA and Catherine Lockwood (Joseph Porter) of Freeport, ME; step-children Keith Coolbeth of Connecticut and Sherry Chandler of Beverly Hills; and 10 grandchildren. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11:00AM at the Davis Funeral Home chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.
