Robert F. “Bob” Maier, of Homosassa, passed away at home peacefully under Hospice care. He was 88. Bob was born in Brooklyn, New York to Frank and Adele (Conklin) Maier. He was a Brooklyn Tech graduate, and served his time proudly in the US Navy as chief mechanic of his submarine. As a small boy, he spent time in and around his family’s business, G & M Trucking Repairs. Bob was even driving those big trucks as young as 11 years of age, and never put even a scratch on any of them. He went back to work in the family business when he was discharged from the Navy, eventually becoming an owner and operator. Bob and his loving wife of 48 years, Marilyn, moved to Florida in 1982, starting in Hernando Beach and eventually making Homosassa their permanent home. They also enjoyed spending time in Maine visiting with family. Bob was known to be quite a character, always finding the humor in life. Those left to cherish his memory other than his devoted wife Marilyn are his children and step-children Elizabeth, Debra, Nancy, Barbara, Marcy, Scott, and Robert; his 16 grandchildren; his great granddaughter; and many other family members and friends. He will be missed greatly. Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care, Inverness.

On behalf on the Palumbo family, I want to extend my condolences to Marylyn and the entire families of Bob. May his memory be a blessing. I had many occasions to spend time with Bob and Marilyn through Adele, who we all loved very much. My father Andrew Palumbo passed in November 2024. As we were cleaning out the home on Spring Hill Drive, I discovered and old photograph book of Bob and Adele’s family with pictures dating back to the 1930’s and forward. I also have a large amount of super 8 films that can potentially be digitized for the family. I’m happy to get them returned to your family. Im still in tampa and can be reached at the email address provided on this website.
