Miney D. Roseberry
April 23, 1930 – March 14, 2025
Miney D. Roseberry, a devoted father, proud veteran, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at Tampa General Hospital in Crystal River, Florida. He was a man of integrity and kindness who touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
Born on April 23, 1930, in Johnson City, Tennessee, Miney was the eldest son of Miney D. Roseberry Sr. and Edna Mae Roseberry. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Billy Roseberry, Bobby Roseberry, and Helen Roseberry. A graduate of Science Hill High School, Class of 1948, he quickly answered the call to serve, enlisting in the U.S. Air Force on September 21, 1948. Rising to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, Miney dedicated 30 years to his country as a Systems Programmer, retiring on September 30, 1978. His service also included a year in Vietnam, where he and a friend established an English school for local children. After his military career, he continued his service in the Civil Service for the U.S. Navy.
Miney’s Air Force journey took him across the country and the world, with postings in California, Kansas, Massachusetts, Florida, Vietnam, Hawaii, and Virginia before finally settling in Florida, where he retired with his second wife, Mildred. He remained devoted to her until her passing in 2017.
He is survived by his loving children: Becky Gibson, Susan (Gary) Murphy, and Lisa Eylar from his first marriage to Shirley Grubb; and Bobby McKenzie, Paula Patrick, and Kathryn (Mark) Fritz from his second marriage to Mildred Roseberry. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his later years, he shared a close and special companionship with Sue LaPorte.
A lifelong enthusiast of computers and technology, Miney stayed engaged in learning and research well into his later years. Whether investigating the latest gadgets or planning his next project, he was always eager to embrace new ideas. Above all, he took great pride in his Air Force service and treasured the time spent with his family.
Graveside services with Military Honors are scheduled for Thursday, March 27th at 11:30 AM at Florida National Cemetery with MacDill Air Force Base Honor Team presiding. Pastor Kevin Ballard will also speak. Burial will follow. Friends and family may gather at Chas E Davis Funeral Home Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the procession departs for the cemetery promptly at 10:30 AM
