Robert “Bob” Ellis

Robert Gene “Bob” Ellis, age 86 of Hernando, FL passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 in the Vitas Hospice Facility. Bob was born in Titusville, PA to the late B George and Doris Mae (Corwin) Ellis and came to Citrus County in 1976 from St. Petersburg, FL. He worked in the construction industry for over 50 years. He and his wife operated Rob’s Masonry in Citrus County for over 40 years.

Bob joined the Inverness Sertoma Club as a charter member and became a very active member for several years. He enjoyed music, racing, draft horses, and playing poker. Almost daily he and his friends enjoyed coffee and donuts at the “office” where there was always a table reserved for the “over the hill” gang.

Left to cherish his memory are three children: Richard (Heather) Ellis of Citrus Springs, FL; Ann (Brent) Fults of Dunnellon, FL; Randy (Karen) Ellis of Hernando, FL; 1 brother, James (Pattie) Ellis of Chiefland, FL; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Phyllis Jean (Roberts) Ellis who passed away February 22, 2020. They were married on September 18, 1955 in Cortland, NY and were married for 64 years. His daughter, Kathy Teepell, passed away on February 12, 2024. Additionally, he lost 2 brothers, Richard and Ronald Ellis and 2 sisters, Bonnie Ellis and Johna Hornbuckel. Bob worked hard and lived a good life, but he will always be remembered as a man who was truly dedicated to his family and loved by all.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, November 10th at 3:00 PM at one of Bob’s favorite places, the family’s “lake house”. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory, Inverness, Florida.
