Joseph F Shields

Joseph F. Shields, 90, of Lecanto, FL passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 under the care of his loving wife, family and Vitas Hospice in Lecanto, FL. Joseph was born in Providence, RI, on December 18, 1933 to the late Eileen (Chadwick) Shields and Joseph Shields. He attended St. Theresa’s School as well as Church, where he was an alter boy throughout his young years.
He was the General Manager for Hasbro Toy Company’s night shift in Pawtucket, R.I. and retired to Florida in 1977 and became a member of the American Legion Post #77 in Inverness, FL.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Irene Shields. His children are Kenneth R. Shields (wife Bernadette) of Tampa, FL; Raymond R. Shields (wife Shelley) of Fayetteville, TN; Richard A. Shields of Valrico, FL; Diana M. Avanzo of East Providence, RI; Michael Shields of Burrillville, RI; Jo-ann Coelho of Burrillville, RI; Joseph Shields of East Providence, R.I. and Gail Viveiros of Bristol, R.I. He was preceded in death by one younger brother, William, and has a living younger brother, Robert (Bob). Joseph has 21 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
All are invited to A Celebration Of Life Gathering for Family and Friends. It will be held at Chas E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness, FL on Saturday, October 5, at 11 a.m. until noon.
