Charlotte Elizabeth Haag, age 95, of Inverness, FL died Tuesday May 21, 2024, at Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing Center in Inverness. Charlotte was born in Pine County, Minnesota on May 3, 1929, to Johney and Charlotte (Van Dam) Clyne. Charlotte had many memories of her days growing up in rural Minnesota during the depression and WWII, including surviving the Armistice Day blizzard. Charlotte and John raised their family in Roseville, MN where they lived for 25 years before moving to Penfield, NY and subsequently to Inverness in 1980. Family was important to Charlotte; she made it a priority to see all her children and grandchildren every year even though they lived in other states. Thus, every summer they would travel across the country in their Minnie Winnie visiting family and friends.
Charlotte was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where she volunteered for many years selling donuts and coffee after mass on Sundays to raise money for religious education. In some circles she is remembered as the “Donut Lady”. She and John were members of Point O’Woods Country club of Inverness where they enjoyed playing 500. Playing Scrabble using the “Haag Method” was another of Charlotte’s favorite pastimes. Charlotte was an avid painter and a long-time member of the Citrus County Craft Council. She was famous for her miniature paintings, hand-made and painted gift boxes, and hand painted bookmarks which she sold at craft sales. Her art continues to be on display around Citrus County and was featured in several articles in the Inverness Courier.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her husband, John Haag, her son, George Haag and son in law Tim Ziebarth. She is survived by her son, John Haag (Nancy) Minneapolis, MN, daughter Charlotte Ziebarth Inverness, son Edward (Vickie) Haag, St. Louis, MO and son Joseph (Linda) Delano, MN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Sara (John) Haag-Turley, Eleanor (Timothy) Brown, Andrew Haag, Emily (Peter) Czech, Angela Haag, Stephanie (Branden) Cambron and Stephen Haag. She was also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren, Isabella Brown, Charlotte Brown, Harrison Brown, Brayden Turley, Ezra Haag, Etta Mae Brown, Paisley Turley, James Czech, Brenham Cambron and many friends and neighbors.
Friends may call at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness on Sunday, June 9 from 2-4 p.m. where a vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, June 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness with a luncheon to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
