Nancy Louise Burwick Walker passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on February 24, 1939, in Orlando, FL, to the late Avery and Leola Burwick.
Nancy was a proud graduate of Boone High School’s Class of 1957. Nancy’s love for music and movement was evident in her role as a high stepper, a memory she fondly recounted throughout her life. She furthered her education by attending secretarial school and cosmetology school, which led to a career that she embraced with dedication and skill. Nancy eventually retired as a dedicated secretary with the State of Alaska. She and Tommy chose to settle in Citrus County to embrace retirement, their new chapter of life. They were both members of the Church of the Nazarene where they enjoyed worshipping with their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
Her interests were many and varied; Nancy found joy in sewing, crafting, and was particularly passionate about cooking and baking for others. Her culinary creations were not just meals but expressions of her love and care for those around her. It was through these acts of service that Nancy’s loving and passionate nature were most evident.
Nancy’s family was the cornerstone of her world. Nancy’s husband of 67 years, Thomas Stanford Walker, predeceased her, as did her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Esther May and Kenneth VanMeter, and her sister-in-law, Nancy Burwick. She leaves behind her children, Tommy W. Walker (Connie) and Nancy J. Kinney, and son-in-law Kris Kinney, her adored grandchildren, Gerad (Liz), Justen (Amanda), Janelle (Michael) and Kelby (Arjane) and her cherished great-grandchildren, Mari, Nico, AveryMae, Payten, Libby, Corbin, Jack, Austen, John, Vivienne, Nate, Remy, Atticus, and Tahvi. Nancy also leaves her brother, Edgar Burwick, as well as his daughters, Belinda (Dennis) and Kim, and Nancy’s uncles, Joe and Harold Scott along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will hold an intimate memorial to celebrate Nancy’s life. The family thanks Charles Davis Funeral Home for their care of our mother.
