Della Bishop

Della Mae Bishop, of Inverness, passed away at her home under Hospice care on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. She was 92. Della was born to Aimar and Alma (Kinard) Martin in Ruffin, SC. She was a proud homemaker, who loved her family very much and enjoyed taking care of them. After she was already a wife and a mom to her four children, she decided to go back to school to earn her high school diploma and graduate from Chamberlain High School, and did so one year before her oldest child graduated! They moved up to this area in 1971 from Tampa. Della was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 55 years Winston Bishop, Sr., her son Winston Bishop, Jr., her daughter Rebecca Coons, her granddaughter Sylvia Sharpe, her grandson Michael Faucett, her brother James Martin, and her sister Betty Kendall. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Wanda Sharpe of Inverness and Barbara Ongemach (Ken) of Tampa; her brother Albert Martin of Ruffin, SC; many wonderful grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Funeral services for Della will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 2:30pm at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, with a visitation beginning at 1:30 until service time. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to Winston.
