Michael Engel

Michael L. “Mike” Engel, of Floral City, passed away at Vitas Hospice in Lecanto, surrounded by his family. He was 76. Mike was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Edward and Hazel (Clair) Engel, and was one of nine children. Mike worked in maintenance as a supervisor, but also managed ABC Liquors for many years, moving all around the states managing their rotating bars. He and his family moved to this area from Ohio 44 years ago. Since Mike was a workaholic and always focused on providing for his family, he didn’t have many hobbies, other than watching wrestling. He did love tinkering with mechanic work on cars. Mike was preceded in death by his son Mark Engel; and his brothers and sisters Dorothy, Mary, Eddie, Richie, Joey, and Davy. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nearly 50 years Shirley Engel of Floral City; sons Brian Engel (Teresa) and Michael L. Engel, Jr.; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
