Betty Pittard Davis, age 89 of Inverness, FL passed away March 20, 2024 under the care of her family and Vitas Hospice following a long illness.

Betty was born in Winterville, GA on November 8, 1934 to the late Harold and Mollie (Dawson) Pittard. After graduating from high school, Betty attended Young Harris College followed by Emery University where she acquired her nursing degree. Later in life, she earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Central Florida. Betty moved to Inverness in 1966 with her husband Dave and their two children. She worked as a Public Health Nurse at the Health Department in Inverness for over 20 years. During that time, she headed up many programs including vaccinations at the schools, Scoliosis identification and treatment, and anti-smoking campaigns. Her passions were walking, running, cycling, and travel. Even in her 80s, she routinely walked over 10,000 steps a day. At age 79, she had a top 50 half marathon time for her age group from a run through Disney World. The highlight of her retirement was to take the grandkids to the theme parks as she enjoyed the parks just as much as they did. Betty’s retirement was also filled with many cruises as she enjoyed those trips with her husband, Dave, and the rest of the family when possible. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness

Betty is survived by her sons David and Paul, 3 grandchildren Kristin, Tom, and Danielle, and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Augustine Davis on November 9, 2023

There is a Celebration of Life scheduled at the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness on Wednesday, March 27th at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Lou Ellen Hartley will officiate. Burial will follow in Florida National Cemetery beside her husband on Thursday at 10:00 AM. There will be no viewing prior to services.
