Ellen D Sherrod

Ellen D. Sherrod, of Floral City, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was 73. Ellen was born in Waltham, Massacusetts to Russell and Marilyn Sumner Hurd. She was a Sunday School teacher for a long time after graduating from high school. Ellen has been in this area for forty years, and even played a critical part of the VFW #7122 getting started. She was the canteen manager for over thirty-five years, and was one of the first Auxillary honor guard and riflemen team members. She will be missed greatly for all she did and who she was. Those left to cherish Ellen’s memory are her life partner of many years Marty Theobald; her daughter Lacey Snyder; her sons Jay Snyder and Adam Gosselin; her brothers Dean Hurd, Stephen Hurd, and Russell Hurd, Jr.; sisters Kathy Frost, Susan Jones, and Stacey Miller; Todd Monroe and Donnie Bullock; and four grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1-4pm at the VFW Post #7122. Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Cremation Care.
