Lucretia D. “Cre” Ekeli, age 83, Inverness, FL passed away February 8, 2024 in Citrus Memorial Hospital.
“Cre” was born in Long Island, NY on August 19, 1940 to the late Wesley and Dorothy (Baumler) Ekeli and came to this area in 1974 from there. She faithfully served as the Secretary of the First Lutheran Church of Inverness for over 28 years.
Left to cherish her memory are 2 children, Craig Ekeli and his wife Lisa of Inverness and Nancy Wilt of Beverly Hills; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She also is survived by her daughter in law, Julie Ekeli Spong and a sister in law, Myra Pye She was preceded in death by her husband, Arne Ekeli on September 28, 2022. They were married for 58 years. Additionally, she lost her son, Steven Ekeli in 2017 and her brother, Wayne Pye in 2004.
Funeral services on Thursday, February 15th at 1:00 PM from The First Lutheran Church of Inverness. The Rev. Tom Beaverson will officiate. Following cremation, burial of the cremains will be laid to rest beside her husband in the church’s memorial garden.
