Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

Wonetta M Cooper

In Loving Memory of Wonetta Cooper

Wonetta Cooper, a force of nature and a champion of tenacity, passed away on December 8, 2023, at Chapters Hospice Care Center. After a spirited battle with Leukemia, she left this world with the same indomitable spirit that defined her life. Wonetta was best known for her strong will which served her well over her lifetime. When faced with the advice to “get her affairs in order” four years ago, Wonetta responded with the attitude of, “Hold my coffee and watch this.” And watch we did, as she continued to live life with an unyielding determination that inspired everyone around her.
She was well known for zipping around Winn Dixie and Walmart in the electric cart chatting with everyone she saw. She made a game of counting how many times she was told she had nice hair! People got extra credit for creativity such as shouting it out an open window of a moving car. Wonetta made great friends at Florida Cancer Center and HCA Florida Citrus Hospital whom she visited often. Her favorite hobbies included sitting with her dog Max and surfing the Internet on her iPad while watching Murder She Wrote and documentaries. She was a wealth of knowledge and would often provide interesting information to others telling them “I read it on the IPad”. She was a lover of digital puzzles and converted many puzzle groupies. Wonetta was a foodie and had many recipes to share with others. She even became a lover of Vegan food and would tell people that’s why she lived longer than expected.
Wonetta is no stranger to power tools. In previous years she enjoyed woodworking, and her house is decorated with shelves and tables that she constructed. She also enjoyed sewing, painting, and ceramics. She had a great work ethic and worked in the health care field as a medical supply representative and a nursing assistant.
She was 87 years old, born October 25th, 1936. She was the mother of four children and is survived by Debra (Rusty) Elliott, Edward (Cindy) Cooper, Wanda (Randy) Moak, and Clifford (Heidi) Cooper. She is also survived by her sister Grace Riley, and grandchildren Heather (John) Wilkerson, Jason (Jessica) Cooper, Joseph (Chrissy) Pisciotta, Melinda (Michael) Huston, Amanda Cooper, Cyle (Stefane) Cooper, and Desire Cooper. Great grandchildren include Michael Newsome, Cody Newsome, Zachary Newsome, Wyatt Newsome, Aiden Newsome, Noah Huston, Adeline Cooper, Logan Cooper, Georgia Riley, Roman Pisciotta, and Aleena Pisciotta. Preceded in death is her mother Louella Kuntz McGriff, father Harold McGriff, husband Lowell Cooper, sister Edith Roberts, brother Harold Jr. Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory 3075 S. Florida AVE Inverness, FL 34450.

Wonetta’s departure leaves a void, but her legacy of resilience, warmth, and love forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
