Anthony James Venero, Sr., age 81, of 8300 E. Ft. Cooper Rd, Inverness, FL passed to Heaven on December 1, 2023 at 7pm peacefully at his home with family by his side. Tony was a devoted husband to Dolores Ann Stokes Venero for 59 years; a loving father to his daughter Angelia Venero (Michael Peters) of Ocala, FL, and to his son, Anthony J. Venero, Jr. (Stacy Peacock Venero); brother to Vincent Venero (Paula Venero) of Inverness and Lenora Antunes of Tallahassee, FL; “Papa” to Grand Children Allen Anthony Clifton (Denise Clifton) of Denver, Colorado, Jeff Clifton of Winter Garden, FL, Victoria M. Rogers (Christopher Rogers) of Inverness, FL, Kaitlyn A. Venero (Jacob Lemieux) of Inverness, FL, Great Granddaughter, Layla B. Clifton, and Great Grandson Anakin J. Lemieux. Additionally, he leaves his sister in law, Barbara Kay Rodgers.

Tony was preceded in death by his mother and father Eleonor and Robert Venero; his brother Robert Venero and sister Roseann Lumpkin. Tony was born April 12, 1942 in Islip, New York and entered the Marine Corp at 17 years of age. After his tour in Okinowa and his military service was fulfilled, Tony relocated to Inverness, FL where he met his bride. They relocated to Ocala shortly after their union and began a life of love and happiness. Tony was a plant manager for Skyline Corporation for 14 years and had the opportunity to purchase a family business in Inverness, FL; Citrus Marine Center. Tony and Dolores built their business and later acquired Venero Snapper, Inverness, FL. Tony retired at 59 to work his farm, hunt, and travel. He enjoyed time spent working his crops and could usually be found on his tractor, in a dear stand on his homestead, or teaching one of his children/grandchildren how to build or fix something. Tony will forever be known as a “pleaser of many” and an honorable Husband, Father, Papa, Friend, and MARINE. May he rest in peace among the angels of the Heaven, just as he walked this earth as the angels among us. There is a Celebration of Life scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 3:00 PM from the Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastors Marne Palmani and David Maddox officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 PM until the hour of service.
