Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

Michael W Bandy

Michael Wayne Bandy, “Mike”, 62 of Floral City, Florida, passed away on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, after a long struggle with head and neck cancer.
Mike was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 25th, 1961, to his father Lester C. Bandy, “Tom”, and his mother Patricia K. Smith. He was in the U.S. Army and after an honorable discharge became a framer in the construction field. He always joked “Jesus was a long-haired carpenter, and so am I.” Mike worked for Classic Carpentry for 31 years, where he was often a mentor to several young men.
Mike enjoyed boating on his pontoon boat, where, while boating one day he met his future wife Vickie while helping her to clear lily pads from the entrance to the lake. Mike and Vickie were later married at their home in Floral City on August 27th, 2016, and continued to enjoy boating every chance they got.
He loved to play acoustic guitar. Some of his friends called him “Guitar” or “Guitar Mike.” Places would call Mike, and his brother-in-law, “Banjo” John (Roach) often at the last minute, so we called our little band “The Last Resort” and when we got on stage, or even a picnic table, playing and singing our hearts out.
Mike would share the music with anyone that would listen, having so much fun. He would say “If you know how to play G, C, and D, you can play anything!” He mentored his niece Tina and nephew J.D., and a few others when it came to the guitar. He loved life and had a personality that was bigger than life. He was a warm, loving, honest, loyal, and heart-felt man.
Mike was pre-deceased by his dad, Tom Bandy. He leaves behind his loving wife Victoria Wyatt Bandy, his mom Patricia K Smith, his daughter Jamie Brooks, stepsons Dustin Spears and Michael Paul, three grandchildren: Hannah Brooks, Logan Spears, and Payton Spears, brothers William Bandy and David Bandy and sisters Virginia Roach and Cheryl Starr.
Cremation will be under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. Services will be held at Fort Cooper Baptist Church at 4222 S. Florida Avenue, Inverness, FL 34450 on November 11th, 2023, at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
