Wallace W. Clyde, of Inverness, died peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. He was 87. Wallace was born in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY, to Wallace Clyde and Elizabeth Pike Clyde. He and Ruth have been down here since 2004, having come down here from Gahanna, Ohio.
Wallace loved the Lord and was a very devoted husband and father. He was a very proud United States Marine veteran, having served six years on active duty. After his service, Wallace became a master mechanic, who also enjoyed fishing with his sons, biking on the trail and tinkering in his yard. He loved all animals, enjoyed his ice cream, and he never met a stranger.
Wallace is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ruth Clyde; his three sons Scott Clyde (Hazel), Kevin Clyde (Holly), and Michael Clyde; seven grandchildren Nicole, Kyle Coutney, Cameron, Nathan, Thomas (Julie) Clyde, and Cassidy (Landon) Meahl; and seven great grandchildren, Asher, Kyrie, Kai, and Adeline Clyde, Jessie, Jane, and Audry Meahl.
Services will be held on Wednesday October 18, 2023 at 11:30am, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are under the care of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home 3075 S. Florida Ave. Inverness, FL 34450.
