We are sad to announce the passing of Omar Ramon Santiago, age 26, Zolfo Springs, FL, formerly of Floral City, passed away Oct 1, 2023. Omar was born in Homestead, FL on June 3, 1997 he lived in Texas the first few years of his life and he grew up in Citrus County. He attended local schools and was very athletic focusing on football and weightlifting. He graduated from Zolfo Springs High School after placing sixth in the State of Florida for weightlifting. He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Although he struggled with health issues, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all in the community.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Melanie Strickland; 2 brothers and 1 sister: Michael, Mathew and Stella of Floral City; Maternal grandmother, Lynn Hebert of Zolfo Springs; Maternal great grandmother, Mary Lou Baker; Paternal grandfather, Raymond Spangenberg of Floral City; his uncle, Steven Spangenberg. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Kenny Hebert and his great grandfather, Arthur Baker.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial offered on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 1:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery.
We are reminded how short life really is, and how we are just passing through. Please join us in celebrating Omar’s life at The Cove in Inverness following.
