Kelly Rae Lybek age 60, of Inverness, Florida passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Kelly was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 27, 1962, to the late Sharon (Lambert) Williams- Foster and Paul E. Williams. She moved to Inverness, Florida with her family in early 1996. Kelly started her career in Columbus, Ohio as a hair stylist gaining her education at the Ohio State School of Cosmetology. After she graduated and obtained her license, she returned to the Ohio State School of Cosmetology as a teacher. After moving to the Inverness area, she began driving a school bus for the Citrus County School System. Kelly then decided she needed a career switch and began working at the Citrus County Jail as a Corrections Officer. After almost ten years of service, she began working for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, where she retired as a corrections officer at Sumter Correctional Institute in 2018. She was a strong advocate for veteran affairs and was an Auxiliary member of the VFW Post 7122 in Floral City. Her father is a Korean War veteran, and her late husband Thomas J. Lybek was also a veteran. Kelly was a very proud and active member at the VFW at different posts between Brooksville, Hernando, Inverness, and Florida City. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Citrus County social club called the IRRU. Kelly also loved to spend time socializing with friends while gambling and would often head to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa with one of her best friends of thirty-five years, Barbara Hattan, who was more like the sister she never had as she was on only child. She also loved to travel her spend time with her son. Kelly was preceded in death by her mom, Sharon (Lambert) Williams- Foster, and her husband Thomas J. Lybek. Kelly is survived by her father Paul E. Williams, her son Timothy Williams, and his partner John Pendleton whom she loved very dearly. She also has three adopted grandkids: Logan Scott, Baelee Scott, and Zachary Scott who she loved very much. She also leaves behind many friends whom she loved including Barbara Hattan of Floral City, Carla Boone of Crystal River, Mary Guzick of Casa Grande, Arizona and many more. There will be a Celebration of Life for Kelly at the VFW Post 7122 in Floral City on April 22, 2023, between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. All of Kelly’s many friends and family are encouraged to attend as her spectacular life will be celebrated with all her loved ones. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home assisted the family. Kelly will be laid to rest privately at Florida National Cemetery.
