Wilma M. Smith, age 87, Titusville, FL, formerly of Inverness, passed away March 25, 2023 in the Edward M. Poe Hospice Care Center in Titusville.
Wilma was born at home in the suburbs of Detroit Michigan on January 13, 1936 to the late Howard and Julia (Brader) Chandler and moved to Inverness with her late husband, George Smith from Troy, MI. She was a retired Educator, having taught second and third graders for over 30 years.
Wilma was active in the Hernando Church of The Nazarene and enjoyed sewing, making cards, and playing Bunko. She was the Secretary of Dare Care, Past President of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Secretary of International Convention-Lambda Chapter. In later years she was a resident at Sumter Place Senior living where she enjoyed Bingo, reading, and during the Holidays taking in the Holiday lights and special events.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Michele Smith of Cocoa, FL; her brother, Norman Chandler and sister-in-Law Doris Chandler, and sister-in-Law Helen Chandler, and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roman and Laura Garwood; several nieces and nephews: Steve, Bonnie, Sandra, Joan, Michael, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Dawn and Gretchen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George H. Smith; her brother, Donald Chandler, and a special brother-in-law, Donald Smith.
There is a Celebration of Life scheduled for Tuesday, April 4th at 11:00 AM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with The Rev. Andy Heer, pastor of the Hernando Church of The Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in the Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa, FL. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM until the service begins.
