Clarence Alexander, age 68 of Hernando, FL passed away March 17,2023 at the UF Health Hospital, Leesburg, FL.

Clarence was born in Inverness, FL to the late Clyde and Joyce (Bell) Alexander. Clarence was a member of the New Church Without Walls. He attended local schools and graduated from Citrus High School where he was a great basketball player, track and football player. Clarence was the first black person to win the Reserve Grand Champion steer in FFA at the Citrus County Fair. He was known for his fishing skills and catching fish when others couldn’t. Clarence enjoyed over 35 years as a professional over the road truck driver with Grabel Van Lines and Terminal, Fogarty Van Lines. Among other things, Clarence was known for Cee-Jays BBQ grilling, an excellent player in Spades, Poker and Dominoes.
Clarence was a Hernando and Citrus County “Go To” person when someone passed away. He was the cook and first supporter. He was a great hunter with “coon” dogs. He is well known and loved farming in the community at Jordan Ranches for many years, where he planted watermelons, peas, tomatoes, okra, peanuts, cabbage and greens.

Left to cherish his memory are 2 children, Dante Alexander of Inverness and Elizabeth Webb of Ocala.
He left 10 brothers and sisters: Bishop Doug Alexander, Clyde Alexander, Tommy Alexander, Johnell Alexander, Kermit Alexander, Brenda Thomas, Joanne Bass, Travis Ford, Perlina Alexander, and Stephanie Richardson; Aunt and Uncle, Frank and Jewel Atkins; 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wendell and his sister, Linda Simmons

There is a Celebration of Life scheduled for Saturday, March 25th at 11:00 AM at the New Church Without Walls. Bishop Dr. Doug Alexander, Pastors Sonny Wright and Jeffrey Hollis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hernando Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the New Church Without Walls Church, 300 South Kensington Avenue, Lecanto, FL. Please mark the donation for the Alexander funeral.
