Lewis “Skip” A Norton Jr

Lewis A. “Skip” Norton, Jr., age 78, Inverness, FL passed away March 10, 2023 under the care of his family and the HPH Hospice Care Center in Lecanto.

“Skip” was born in Binghamton, NY on January 6, 1945 to the late Lewis A. Norton, Sr. and Jean Keefe Norton. He moved to Inverness from Orlando. He was employed by the Citrus County School System as a custodian for well over 20 years. He served our country during the Vietnam Era in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Vietnam Dog Handlers Association. Skip served in Vietnam as a Military Police Dog Handler, along with his canine partner, Rommel. He enjoyed competing for several years with his amateur bowling league and playing men’s slow pitch softball. Once unable to play, Skip enjoyed watching baseball and other sports on his television, as well as watching his grandson, Brogan play baseball.

He is survived by his son, Brett Norton and his wife Kerry; and his grandson, Brogan Norton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Norton, on Christmas day in 2022.

Graveside military honors will be rendered at Florida National Cemetery on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. Inverness VFW Post #4337 will preside. Burial will follow. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory handled the arrangements.
