Mabel F. Lewis 90, of Lecanto, FL went peacefully into the arms of God, on February 26th, 2023, under the loving care of Hospice and her two sons , John and Tom Lewis, daughter-in-law’s, Karen and Annette Lewis, and Grandson, Eric Lewis.
Mabel was born in Trout, West Virginia, October 27th 1932 to Leslie and Victoria Blake. Mabel came from a large family consisting of several brothers and sisters. She graduated high school and then went on to business school.
Mabel was preceded in death by the love of her life John C. Lewis in 1975, unexpectedly at the young age of 48 while on vacation with her and their children. She met John in West Virginia before going to business school and then later reconnected with John in Niagara Falls, New York where they were married and began a family and had two sons, John and Tom. Mabel also had another son, James De Witt of West Virginia and she loved all her boys immensely. James De Witt sadly preceded her in death in 2012. Mabel never did remarry, as she only loved John and now, she is with him.
Mabel was a strong, enduring woman after the death of her husband, raising two young sons and working as a secretary to pay the bills and put food on the table. She made sure they never went without anything. She put them first. After they graduated and moved away, she went on to live in Andalusia, Alabama for sometime to be close to family and then to Pensacola, Florida to live close to her sister Connie Merrill and her family. They enjoyed their time together for many years and Mabel’s favorite place to go, the Casino.
In 2020 Mabel moved to Citrus County where her son John C. Lewis and his family lived to be close to them in her last years and spent many happy times together and enjoying her Great-Grandson, Eric Lewis.
