Garth Adams was born to Earl and Ruby (Brinkman) Adams on May 5, 1945 in Peru, Nebraska. He was the youngest of 3 children. He was raised on his family farm in Peru, NE that has been in his family since the mid 1800s. He loved horses, sports and the great outdoors.
Garth attended Peru Prep from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1963. He then attended Peru State College and graduated in May 1967. While in college he met his future wife, Gloria Bean, and they were married on June 16, 1967.
Garth joined the United States Marine Corp in March 1968. After OCS and Motor Transport School he was shipped to Vietnam where he served as both a platoon leader and Motor Transport Officer. He returned to the states in April 1969 and served at Camp Lejeune North Carolina till March 1973. He was then transferred to Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Cleveland Ohio until his departure from the Marines in February 1976. He was always so proud of being a Marine. He then worked at a variety of sales, management and entrepreneurial professions until his retirement in 2005. Garth was an avid golfer and fisherman and did both on many trips throughout the US and the Caribbean. He loved snowmobiling in the mountains of New Hampshire and snorkeling in the Caribbean. He and his wife Gloria moved to Pine Ridge Florida in 2012 and continued living there until his death. Having grown up on the family homestead he continued his love of the country many a day there after his retirement. Garth was preceded in his death by both his parents, his older brother Ross, his sister Marge, each of their spouses, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony on March 11th at the Pine Ridge Community Center and he will be buried in Peru Nebraska in April. He is survived by his wife Gloria (Bean) Adams of Beverly Hills FL, his yellow lab Gretchen, many nieces and nephews and two adopted grandchildren. Memorial donations in his name may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Paws for Purple Hearts Organization
