Patricia Davis Streicher, 90, of Hernando, FL passed away January 28, 2023 at Vitas Hospice in Lecanto, FL. She was born in Terre Haute, IN on July 6, 1932 to the late Herbert and Thelma F. (Wallace) Davis. Patricia was a Registered Nurse and arrived in the Inverness and Hernando area in 1984, coming from Miami, FL. She was Catholic by faith, and enjoyed playing cards, cooking, and interacting with family and friends. She did not hesitate to tap into her inner adventurous spirit whether it was foreign travel, Alaska and Hawaiian cruises; jet skiing, zip lining, hot air ballooning, or glider flying. She loved to dance. She is preceded in death by her husband Lee Streicher, children Stephen Miller, David Streicher, Scott Streicher, and Lisa Streicher and step granddaughter Christina. Survivors include her son Michael (Pamela) Miller of Boise, Idaho, stepdaughter Tara Couture (Glen) of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and stepdaughter in law Joy Streicher of Lecanto Florida; 3 grandchildren (Christopher, Kathryn, Stephanie) one step grandson (Roy), and several great grandchildren.
In June 1951, Patricia (Pat to her friends) graduated Palm Beach High School, West Palm Beach, FL. She and her mother Thelma moved to Florida from Indiana in 1948 when Pat contracted Rheumatic Fever as a teenager. Pat was a model as an older teenager and young adult. In February 1953 she married John J. Miller of Font du Lac, WI and gave birth to two sons Michael (January 1954) and Stephen May 1959). She longed to be a nurse and started as a Physician’s receptionist in Miami, FL. She went on to study nursing becoming an LPN and later an RN. Remarkably, those accomplishments were attained while raising her two children and four stepchildren. Pat graduated from Miami-Dade Junior College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 1981. She was an RN at the largest Hospital at the time in Miami before moving to Inverness and joining the nursing team at Citrus Memorial Hospital in 1984 rising to the level of Supervisor. Pat devoted 13 years at Citrus Memorial before retiring in 1997. In retirement she continued her devotion to those in need by volunteering at Hospice and administering vaccinations at Brashear’s Pharmacy in Lecanto. Additionally, she gave of her time as a volunteer at Citrus County polling locations during local, state, and national elections.
One of Pat’s proudest achievements was being a Charter Member of the Gulf to Lakes Pilot Club serving in various positions within the club, supporting Citrus County businesses or organizations related to brain injury or diseases. Recently she was honored for 25 years of Pilot service. As a Gulf to Lakes Pilot and Board Member, she could be found prior to each Christmas involved in the “Parade of Trees” the signature fundraising event that the Gulf to Lakes Pilot Club held selling decorated Christmas Trees to Citrus County companies, entities, and individuals with proceeds going to various organizations in need. She loved what this club accomplished for her community and the lifelong friends she made. She helped organize and participated in an annual “Hardee Party” in her neighborhood, a gathering of neighbors and friends as reported with photo in the Citrus Chronicle in May 2020.
Mom/Pat/Nana will be sorely missed by her family and friends yet wrapped in the arms of her loving mother and family. We are so honored to have had the miraculous privilege of being part of this wonderful woman’s life.
A Celebration of Life Gathering of Family and Friends is scheduled for Monday, February 13, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL. Patricia will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute IN at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Vitas Hospice of Lecanto, FL.
