Carl Lee Parris, Jr., of Inverness passed away January 7, 2023, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Carl was born on January 11, 1937 in Double Springs, Alabama to the late Carl Lee Parris, Sr. and Jimmie Lucille (Bartlett) Parris. As a teenager Carl worked for the Orlando Sentinel in Orlando Florida, and eventually went on to own and operate the optical center at the Naval Training Center in Orlando. Although the optical center was a very good opportunity for him, Carl’s real passion was automobiles, and he soon opened a used car business (sunny side motors) in Orlando with his father. Carl’s love for cars allowed him numerous opportunities throughout his life and he finally retired from Nick Nicholas Ford after several years as both a salesman and Manager. Carl’s love for God and his family was never ending and he showed it every chance he got. Those that knew him knew his kind heart and how much pride he took in helping people, including those he had newly befriended. Carl loved country music, the beach and fishing, those times fishing will be fondly remembered by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren for years to come.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Alice Parris, his children: Susan Parris of Inverness, Steven Parris of Ormond Beach, Fl, and Lisa Gormsen and husband Gary of Inverness; his 5 grandchildren: Shannon, Kyle, Sierra, Corey, and Benjamin; and 6 great grandchildren: Aniyah, Kaleb, Kalyn, Jayla, Kyler, and Kaden. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Reeves, Darrel Parris, and Charlotte Broxton.
A celebration of Life Service for Carl will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 3:00 PM from the First Baptist Church of Inverness with Doctor Byron Brown officiating. Following the service, Carl will be laid to rest at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Inverness. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until service time. Arrangements are under the care of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness.
