Anne Madden, age 86, Inverness FL, passed away November 29, 2022 at home under the loving care of her son, Steve, and care professionals at Vitas Hospice. Mrs. Madden was born in Bronxville, NY on January 30, 1936 to the late Blevins C. Dunklin and Otha P. Dunklin. Years later, while attending an event at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church Clearwater FL, Anne met Joseph and on September 12 1959, they were married at St Cecilia’s. Shortly thereafter, in addition to raising their two boys Kevin and Stephen, Anne began teaching Physical Education grades K-5 and 17 years later retired from the Pinellas County School System, and with Joseph, semi-retired, sold their home in Largo FL and moved to Inverness. Upon their arrival, Anne, already a quilter, became involved with and joined Friendship Quilters Guild, even serving as interim treasurer, then found herself joining her husband Joseph in becoming part of Citrus Memorial Hospital’s Auxiliary (Volunteers), where they went wherever they were needed, and did so for a combined total of 20 years of service. Anne, along with Joseph, joined up with the University of Florida IFAS Extension Office in Lecanto FL and volunteered her time in the Master Gardeners office answering telephone queries, and mailing out literature to the public. Anne remained with Joseph, assisting the Master Gardeners program for over 5 years until his passing in May 2017. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Steve Madden, and best friend, Baylee (the Beagle) Inverness FL. Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years of marriage, Joseph Madden, May 25, 2017. She also was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Madden, October 12, 1985, and her brother, Blevins C. Dunklin, Jr., November 7, 2017. Fr. Mike Suszynski, with Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness FL, will conduct a Catholic Prayer Service at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Monday, Dec 12th at 10:00 AM Burial will follow in the Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Bushnell FL with her late husband, Joseph.
