Leonard R. Giordano, 86, of Inverness, FL passed away on November 12, 2022, under the loving care of his family and Vitas Hospice at his home in Inverness, FL. He was born in Buffalo, NY on July 27, 1936, to Ralph and Connie (Montana) Giordano and came to Inverness in 1969. Leonard served in multiple capacities in the education system for over 30 years but found his passion in guidance counseling. Leonard and his late wife Charlotte were the owners and operators of Leonardo’s Pizza and Subs (the first pizzeria in Citrus County). He was a council member with the City of Inverness from 1987 to 1995, a member of Inverness Kiwanis, and the Inverness Rotary Club. Leonard had a thirst for knowledge and loved sharing it with others. He had a lifelong love of dogs and frequently recalled his walks and travels with his best buddy Indie. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, papa, and friend who happily shared his life experiences and wisdom with those in his life. Leonard had a great sense of humor which was unfailing even when life dealt him hardships. His life philosophy was something positive can always be found in a seemingly negative situation. Leonard enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing poker, and telling stories.
Along with his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by Charlotte, his wife of 63 years, and his daughter Cynthia Giordano. Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Ralph (Patti) of Inverness; James (Tamra) of Tallahassee, FL; Diane Ragans (Michael) of Tallahassee; Patricia Giese (Gregory) of Inverness; his 12 grandchildren, Connie, Leonard, Ralph, Stephen, Timothy, Anthony, Cynthia, Richard, Kendall, Taylor, Natalie, and Branden; and his 14 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Sunday, November 20, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Chas E. Davis Funeral home at 3075 S. Florida Avenue in Inverness. Friends are invited to visit with the family starting at 1:00 pm until the hour of the service. Donations made in lieu of flowers are requested to be sent to support a hospice of your choice. Leonard will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Inverness at a later date.
