Bobbie Joe Collins, “B.J.”, Passed away on the morning of November 1, 2022 at the Rose Castle Assisted Living facility in Lecanto, Florida. B.J. was 87 at the time of his passing. He was born on July 7, 1935 in Winslow, Arkansas to Jack E. Collins And Della Edwards Collins. B.J. grew up in Avon Park, Florida and attended the University of Florida where he graduated with a degree in Vocational Education. B.J. met his wife Consuela Kennedy at UF. He taught in Branford, Florida before moving to Bartow, Fl where he taught for 10 years. He then brought his Family to Citrus County in 1972 and resided here ever since.
B.J. was a teacher/educator/mentor/inventor/farmer/Father/Grandfather and a great Grandfather. A very passionate man about education and making a difference in young men and women’s lives. He enjoyed the outdoors with his biggest passions being gardening and fishing. He also loved his Florida Gators.
B.J. was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Della, his wife of 60 years, Consuela Collins, his brothers; Jack, Leslie and Julius and his sister Jewel. He is survived by his Brother Charlie and sister Lilly May. His sons; Craig K. Collins and Clinton B. Collins, his grandchildren; Holly Marie Poliseno and Zachary Collins and great granddaughter Rosalina Fae Poliseno.
There will be a Celebration of Life after the New Year in 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Citrus Co. Abuse Shelter (CASA) or The New Church Without Walls. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory is assisting the family with Cremation with Care arrangements.
