Calvin James Smail, 74, of Floral City, FL passed away on July 5th, 2022 under the care of Citrus Memorial Hospital of Inverness. He was born to the late Hubert B. and Dorothy M. (Kelley) Smail on December 23rd, 1947 in Brookville, Pennsylvania. He was a Carpenter for the majority of his life and also traveled with the carnival. He enjoyed fishing and is described as a Jack of All Trades—able to do just about anything with his hands and could fix anything he put his mind to. He was a good person with a big heart and would give away his last dollar if it meant helping another person out. He bravely served our country as a member of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era.
Calvin, along with his parents, was preceded in death by his siblings, Sidney Smail and Kathy Horton. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Hubert and Audrey Smail; his brothers, Fred and Byron Smail; his sisters, Mary Taylor and Barbara Ratliff; and his grandchildren, Frank Z., Jesse JR., Alex J. and Owen E. Licari.
An Open House, Celebration of Life for Calvin will be held by his family at Fort Cooper State Park, 3100 South Old Floral City Rd. Inverness, FL on Monday, July 18th, 2022 beginning at 10 AM.
Cremation with Care is under the direction of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
