Charles A. Benke, 87 years, passed away April 5, 2022. He was born November 11, 1934, in Chicago, IL, to the late, Elmer Emil and Catherine D. (Sedore) Benke.
Mr. Benke was an Offset Pressman, in the printing industry, retiring after 39 years. He has been a resident of Homosassa since 2004, previously residing in Grand Junction, MI.
He was a loving and devoted, husband, father, and grandfather, a member of the American Legion, Post Commander, Grand Junction, MI and also a member of the NRA. Mr. Benke was quite accomplished in everything he did throughout his life. He had a photographic memory, built their home from the ground up, and there was nothing he set his mind too, that was left unfinished.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Benke and his parents, Elmer and Catherine Benke. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Scott Charles Benke, Gulf Port, FL, Debra Jean Overton, Grand Junction, MI, and Susan Marie Newkirk, Homosassa, FL, his sister; Donna Jean Zeug, Orland Park, IL, also survived by 2 grandchildren: David Charles and Michelle Overton.
Graveside services for Charles will be conducted on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, with full military honors presented by Floral City VFW Post #7122. Friends may call at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness from 12:00 PM until the procession leaves for the cemetery at 1:15 PM.
