Albert Lewis Sutherland, age 70, Floral City, FL passed away suddenly at home on April 1, 2022. Al was born in Camden, NJ on August 17, 1951 to the late Albert and Wilhelmina (Wilson) Sutherland. He was a graduate of Collingswood High School and Rutgers University. He moved from Westmont, NJ in 2019. He was employed as a chemist in the pharmaceutical profession and attended St Margaret’s Episcopal Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Nancy (Rust) Sutherland; 1 son, Matthew Sutherland and fiancée, Audrey of Westmont, NJ; his brother, Robert (Susan) of Pittman, NJ, and other extended family.
After a stroke in 2011, Al was determined to regain his strength getting back to doing those sporting activities he enjoyed. His favorites were surf fishing at NJ shore, bowling, and golf. His hard work with physical therapy paid off, allowing him to return to bowling and golf. He was also an avid fan of auto racing traveling to NASCAR races as well as local tracks.
He bowled in leagues in New Jersey and at Sportsman’s in Inverness. Al, Nancy and Matthew could be found enjoying time together fishing at the beach in NJ and North Carolina, at hockey games, auto races and golfing in NJ and Florida.
Friends are invited to the Celebration of Life scheduled for Wednesday, April 13th at 3:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Fr. Eugene Reuman, Rector of St Margaret’s Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will follow in New Jersey at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Albert’s name can be donated to the Greater Citrus County USBCA Youth Bowling League.
