Kay C Russell

Kay Carlson Russell, 82, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Kay was born on March 7, 1939, to Earl and Lera Russell in Flint, Mi. The family would later move to Lapeer, where he would graduate from Lapeer High School, class of 1957. Kay was a proud member of the future farmers of America, and he would later fulfill his first love as a farmer.
Kay served his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 6 years. During this time, he married his first wife Patricia Quitter. They would have 4 children, Cindy, Craig, Brian and Michelle. Kay founded and ran C & K glass for several years in Lapeer.
In 1984, Kay relocated to Florida and would continue in the glass business. Kay would marry Mary Lou in May 2007. Together they were longtime members of Hernando Nazarene Church, where Kay served on the board and drove the church van for some time. Kay loved hearing about all of his grand kids and great grandchildren across the country. Given the opportunity he would chat about the big game with them! GO BLUE
Kay and Mary Lou were blessed to live near Stephenie and Kevin and grandson Austin. He enjoyed going to Austin’s sporting events.
Kay was known for his ability to befriend anyone. A friend to everyone, an enemy to no one…unless you were from Ohio, and then you were just an acquaintance. Yes, he was a true maize and blue.
Kay was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lera, his brother Keith, son Craig and granddaughter Amanda. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou; children, Cindy (Mike) Kemp, Brian (Traci) Russell, Michelle (Jeremy) Zambrano, Jerry Shmidt, Deanna (Jeff) Lake, Douglas (Michelle) Whittum, Stephenie (Kevin) Purinton; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Karin Russell McComb Hardy; sister-in-law, Pearl and several nieces and nephews.
