Lester Leland Shaw, 79, of Naperville, IL passed away suddenly on February 1, 2022 at his home in Citrus Hills, Florida.

Born to Leland and Margaret Shaw in 1942, Les grew up in Holstein, NE. After graduating from Holstein High School, he attended Kearney State College and Nebraska Technical School in Milford. On December 15, 1963 he married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Felzien. After the birth of their two children, Les went back to college and earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He spent 25 years of his career at Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America. Les helped design equipment on their offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, became Manager of Plant Design and later was Director of the Design and Drafting Division of Engineering.

In 1998 he retired and enjoyed wintering in Florida where he came as close as possible to perfecting his golf swing. Over the years he had many hobbies including model airplanes, ham radios and seeing America with his family in their RV. Les had a special talent with his ability to build or repair almost anything, and found joy in helping his family and friends whenever he had the chance. He belonged to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Naperville.

In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by his two children; Debbie (Todd) Burns of Winfield, IL and Kevin (Kristin) Shaw of Oswego, IL, his grandchildren Brittany Breisch, Robert Shaw, and Kaelyn (John) Glaser, his great-grandchild Elowyn, his brothers, Charles (Linda) Shaw and Russel (Deb) Shaw, both of Holstein, NE, plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Christopher Breisch; his parents Leland and Margaret, and his dear nephews Bradley and Tim.

Visitation will be at Charles E. Davis Funeral Home, 3075 S. Florida Ave, Inverness, FL from 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, February 6th.

Additional services and burial in Naperville, IL will be arranged by Beidelman – Kunsch Funeral Home. Date and time to be announced.

Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Naperville, IL.
